The Basics of Classic Mini Cars
|
Classic mini cars represent a popular type of automobile with many collectors. The Mini is a British automobile that was produced between the years of 1959 to 2000. In 1959, the MK I Mini was introduced to the public. This car was marketed as both the Austin Seven and the Morris Minor, with the name Mini catching on later. This car gained popularity with consumers but never was overly successful for its makers possibly because of the high cost of production as compared to its selling price. Nonetheless, the Mini etched its way into the history books as a popular classic automobile.
The MK II Mini was released in 1967 and was made until 1969. This car featured a front grille that had been redesigned. This grille remained standard on this vehicle from that point on. The rear window was larger, and various other visual enhancements were made to the car. This car gained fame and notoriety due to its appearance in the classic film The Italian Job. The film was remade in 2003 and featured the brand new Mini. The new Mini is a subsidiary of the BMW company.
Another popular mini car was the Mini Cooper. This automobile featured a small body with a powerful engine that could handle the road. In the sixties, the Mini Cooper became a status symbol and was a big part of the decade. Even the rich and famous were buying these cars which certainly helped increase their popularity. The Mini Cooper met its end in 1971 when the 1275 GT was introduced. However, the Mini Cooper has its place in history as one of the most popular classic cars of all time.
If you are interested in buying classic mini cars, some research is order. You may not be able to find the mini car of your dreams at a local dealership but you may be able to track one down that is for sale by owner. If you've scoured the classifieds and cannot find the car you want, check on the Internet. This is perhaps the easiest way to find the car of your dreams. In addition to mini cars for sale, you will find clubs and organizations for mini car enthusiasts that you may want to join.
